Sunni Islam

Description

Representing about 85-90% of Muslims, is distinguished from Shia Islam mainly by its historical stance on Prophet Muhammad's succession, favoring community consensus over familial lineage. Sunnis recognize the first four caliphs as rightful successors and follow four major jurisprudential schools: Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali. They emphasize the Prophet's teachings and practices (Sunnah) as captured in Hadiths, without a centralized religious authority, differing in certain rituals and interpretations from Shia Islam.
