News topics

  • Topic

I have designed a streamlined list of news topics to enhance reader comprehension and navigation. This list comprises 10 top-level news topics, each further divided into 2 to 5 subtopics. The intent is to be exhaustive, ensuring that every news story can be categorized under at least one of these topics. While a story may relate to multiple topics, for simplicity, the examples provided link stories to one subtopic and its corresponding top-level topic. Nevertheless, this structure maintains a lot of flexibility to cross news topics. This structured list also serves as a guide for editors, enabling them to classify their stories in various ways while ensuring clarity for readers.

Vocabulary

I have experimented with the vocabulary, incorporating lexical fields related to Web3 and blockchain to underscore legitimacy, seriousness, and credibility. The use of "crypto" emphasizes the cryptographic aspect, adding a layer of complexity as seen in terms like "cryptopolitics."

For news topic titles, I recommend a creative strategy utilizing a crypto-related lexicon, such as "decentralized entertainment" or "crypto red flags." This approach aims to establish a unique identity and tone, setting us apart from other crypto news providers.

Visual identity

All top-level news topics feature a cover. Some covers are provisional, but the goal remains differentiation. A strong visual identity signals quality, as the least reliable sources often neglect this aspect or rely on overly simplistic AI-generated images.

To visually stand out, the strategy involves generating images using AI, ensuring they are copyright-free. This guarantees that the images can be freely used without legal restrictions. By employing creative and coherent prompts, the AI produces consistent and thematic visuals. Incorporating design techniques such as collages, etching, and illustrations adds depth and uniqueness, making the images engaging and distinctive.

Enhanced visual identity

For Crypto news, the proposed visual identity leverages the concept of blockchain in an innovative manner. The aim is to integrate cubes and blockchain circuits into various contexts to create powerful visual metaphors. For example, envision cubes (blocks) invading the Capitol, symbolizing the crypto industry's influence in the 2024 US election while subtly referencing the Capitol invasion of 2021. This image conveys both the impact and controversy surrounding crypto.

Another example, "Crypto news from emerging markets," can be illustrated with a blockchain circuit where each block is colored to represent flags of different emerging countries. This design highlights the connectivity, decentralization, and technological advancements within the blockchain space, showcasing how emerging markets are integrating and benefiting from this technology.

These strategies aim to deliver a comprehensive, engaging, and visually striking news experience that sets us apart in the competitive crypto news landscape.
