We can summarize the features of pre-Romanticism as follows:
Rehabilitation of the passions and of the Self
Cult of sensibility, sentimentalism
Exaltation of the feeling of nature, philosophy of nature
Exaltation of originality of style and personality, at the expense of the doctrine of classical imitation
Irrationalism, that of the Counter-Enlightenment, and already of romantic philosophy and antiphilosophy.
