Food Security
Background
Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life. It encompasses the dimensions of availability, access, utilization, and stability.
Food security is a multifaceted issue intertwined with health, economy, environment, and social stability. Voters may favor policies that reflect their positions on agricultural subsidies, import/export regulations, support for small-scale farmers and investments in agricultural research.
