Council on Foreign Relations
The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a American think tank focused on U.S. foreign policy and international affairs. Established in 1921, CFR operates as an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit organization. Headquartered in New York City and with a secondary office in Washington, D.C., its membership roster includes leading figures such as senior politicians, secretaries of state, CIA directors, bankers, lawyers, academics, corporate executives, and media professionals.
CFR facilitates discussions on global issues by bringing together government officials, international business leaders, and key players in intelligence and foreign-policy circles. Since 1922, it has been the publisher of the bi-monthly journal Foreign Affairs. Through the David Rockefeller Studies Program, CFR contributes to policy formation by offering recommendations to the U.S. administration, testifying before Congress, engaging with the media, and conducting research on a wide range of foreign policy topics.
