The National Popular Vote is a non-profit organization structured as a 501(c)(4). It advocates for a state-based initiative aimed at ensuring the presidency is awarded to the candidate who receives the most votes nationwide. This plan has been enacted into law by 16 states and DC with 205 electoral votes. It needs an additional 65 electoral votes to go into effect.
