Office of the United States Trade Representative

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) shapes and oversees U.S. trade, commodity, and direct investment policies, and leads negotiations with other nations. The U.S. Trade Representative, a Cabinet-level official, acts as the chief trade advisor, negotiator, and spokesperson for the president on trade matters. Positioned within the Executive Office of the President, USTR collaborates with various agencies to coordinate trade policy, manage conflicts, and prepare issues for the president's decision-making. Additionally, USTR plays significant roles in the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the Export-Import Bank, and the National Advisory Council on International Monetary and Financial Policies.
