Space Methodology 2nd Meeting
The meeting organized thanks to Andrea brought together Jorgelina, Bucuresteanu Catalin, Armando and was hosted by Arturas.
To begin, Arturas asked the assistants what their vision was for the structure of the History space. They answered that for the moment the space is divided into 3 sections, the first being reserved for the editors, for their coordination and their information. That the second section is open to universal history, more exactly Popular History, and that the third and last section is dedicated to the scientific and academic studies of history. They then added that for now the editors are focused on adding the following entities, Historic figure and Historic event, as well as roles and titles.
Arturas then explained the importance of the use of Root Types and advised the use of the Claim Type, fundamental to be able to achieve the objective of truth that Geo and Web3 seek. Claims make possible to highlight and report the different points of view on a historical fact and thus to reach an objective position essential to the study and writing of history.
This point allowed Armando to consult the other editors on the use of information sources, after having edited a historical event (Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen - French Constitution of 1791) he realized that Encyclopedia Britannica and worldhistory.org, two sources commonly used for editing the history space, could on certain subjects, provide erroneous or false information. He was given the example of General Lafayette presented by Encyclopedia Britannica and worldhistory.org as the writer of the declaration when in fact by consulting other sources (Parliamentary Archives of the French Revolution) we realize that his draft was only one among many (at least 5 drafts were proposed) and that the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was then redacted by another group and that General Lafayette had no interference. This allows us to reach the conclusion that certain characters can be favored by a source just because they are for example better known by the public.
It was then presented a list of specialized sources for historical study with open or creative commons rights. This list is currently associated with the editors methodology guideline "Sources of information".
Arturas approved the use of this list and recalled the usefulness of claims to change the web2 logic where no one can reclaim, even in the case of a crucial error, whereas thanks to Web3 and Geo it will be possible to communicate and modify facts or information if they are not accurate. Arturas then explained that he found the space to be on the right track, that the editors were doing a good job adding Historic event and Historic figure entities, that their coordination was good and that he was 100% available to help them think about the structure of the space, and to help them create Types in Root for space-specific use.
