The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is an agency created by consolidation of the San Francisco Municipal Railway, the Department of Parking and Traffic, and the Taxicab Commission. The agency oversees public transport, taxis, bicycle infrastructure, pedestrian infrastructure, and paratransit for the City and County of San Francisco. SFMTA offers apprenticeships that are a combination of on-the-job training (OJT) and related classroom instruction under the supervision of a journey level craft person or trade professional in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation. An SFMTA apprenticeship offers opportunities to earn a salary while learning the skills necessary to succeed in high-demand careers within the City and County of San Francisco.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma (GED or California High School Proficiency Certificate)

  • Must be 18 years of age by the end of the selection process

  • Possession of a valid CA Class C Driver’s license

  • Successfully pass City & County pre-employment drug test

  • Proof of 1 year of High School Algebra or 1 term of college Algebra with a passing grade of “C” or better.
