Milpitas Cares
Milpitas Cares exists to allow the love of God through his people and to be tangibly expressed by meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our city and surrounding communities.
Milpitas Cares exists to allow the love of God through his people and to be tangibly expressed by meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our city and surrounding communities.
We empower them to thrive and build a stronger, more resilient community.
Our History
Milpitas Cares started in 2012 with a group of pastors asking a simple question: "Why can't we take better care of our community?"
Indeed, why not? We all agree God deeply cares for our community and so do we.
So we started Milpitas Cares and encouraged all the churches and people in our community to join with us…and you did!
Milpitas Cares quickly became the largest community service event in and for Milpitas the three weeks during Easter, contributing tens of thousands of hours of volunteer help to scores of community services each year.
Our churches provide programs and services throughout the year tha many in the community need, but are not aware of.
With our new "Need Help" section on our website, our neighbors can easily see the different programs and services, and how and where they can access them.
Our Impact
Since its inception, Milpitas Cares has completed hundreds of service projects, providing over 15,000 hours of labor for our schools, parks, recreation areas, and community service groups. We have collected essential items for those in need, such as coats, sweaters, and blankets, and have supported the Milpitas Food Pantry with food donations.
COVID-19 Pandemic Response
When the pandemic hit in 2020, Milpitas Cares quickly adapted to address the urgent needs of our community. We provided over $100,000 in additional funds for food distribution, virtual tutoring, and after-school programs to support families affected by the pandemic.
Our Partners
Milpitas Cares is made possible through the collaboration of a dozen Milpitas area churches that plan, organize, and provide resources for our events. We are also grateful for the support of the Milpitas Unified School District, the City of Milpitas, and various community service groups.
