Voting and web3
Web3 presents an opportunity to reevaluate and enhance our current voting systems, focusing on principles like meritocracy, transparency, accountability, and accessibility. It allows us to question existing power structures and explore decentralized approaches to ensure integrity and increase trust in the democratic process. In this meetup, we will discuss some of the tradeoffs society and organizations make in current voting systems and how we can make decisions about them in web3.
Questions we will tackle at the event:
When is 1 person and 1 vote a good model?
When is reputation-weighted voting a good model?
When does delegation make sense?
What are the tradeoffs when considering voting periods?
What are the tradeoffs when considering quorum and/or voting thresholds?
When is slowness better? What methods can be used for adding slowness?
