Canadian residents Gurjeet Singh Cheema, Gurpreet Singh, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Gurjinder Singh Pannu, and Malkeet Singh, have been charged in India with various crimes, including terrorism. However, Canada has not taken any significant action against them.
In 2018, during Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's visit to Amritsar, India gave him a list of nine Khalistani operatives, including extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
