Comment by the Russian Embassy in the United States

We paid attention to the State Department's statement about the Kremlin’s efforts to covertly spread disinformation in Latin America aimed at weakening assistance for Ukraine and strengthening anti-American sentiment in the Western Hemisphere.

The US Administration once again unfounded blames Russia for all sins. It attributes to us the use of its favorite method - interference in the internal political processes of independent states.

The reason for this is simple: the United States is losing popularity in this region, due to neocolonial aspirations and attempts to impose its will on others. In the emerging multi-polar world, the countries of the Global South are guided by their own national interests.

The Russian Federation has really good relations with Latin American states. More and more governments in the Western Hemisphere are interested in fruitful cooperation with Russia, in particular in the field of delivering objective information to the public. They don’t want their foreign relations to be a victim of the so-called Monroe doctrine, to which Washington remains committed.
