Gang boss who threatened slain Ecuador candidate transferred to max security

Ecuadorian authorities have transferred Jose Adolfo Macias, alias "Fito," the leader of Los Choneros criminal gang, to a maximum security prison. The move comes after Macias was accused of threatening a slain presidential candidate, Fernando Villavicencio. The operation to transfer Macias was carried out by around 4,000 heavily armed agents.
