Description

Residential counselors work with people who live in residential facilities, including older adults, people with disabilities, and people with mental health and substance abuse conditions. They provide individual and group counseling, teach clients life skills to help them gain independence, and identify potential issues or crises and try to prevent them. They evaluate clients on a continual basis and make recommendations when clients are ready for discharge.
