Kew Gardens is actively involved in discovering new plant and fungi species, as well as educating the public on the importance of plant conservation. In 2022, Kew Gardens identified 90 plants and 24 fungi completely new to science. Additionally, it preserves and displays a vast collection of living and preserved specimens, using its famous London facility to educate the public about plant conservation​
