Caitlin Hu
Hu is an American journalist based in New York City. She guides global digital news coverage, with special responsibilities for the Americas. She is also the editor of CNN’s Meanwhile in America newsletter.
Previously, Hu was the geopolitics editor for Quartz, where she led two different teams to win the first-place Philip Meyer Award for investigative journalism, and a Malofiej infographics prize for data visualization. She also created the book “The Objects that Power the Global Economy” with co-editor Lauren Brown.
Hu was previously based in Italy as the editor of COLORS, a print magazine about globalization in four languages. During her tenure, the magazine’s editorial installations were shown at the Design Museum London and the Perugia International Journalism Festival.
She has lived and reported from across Europe, North Africa and Asia, and is fluent in English, French and Italian. In addition to news publications, her editorial work has been shown at Paris Photo and the Venice Biennale.
