Antonio Guterres

Antonio Guterres is the current Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN). He was born on December 31, 1955, in Lisbon, Portugal. Guterres served as the President of Portugal from 1999 to 2001, and later worked for the United Nations in various capacities. He was elected as the Secretary-General of the United Nations on October 14, 2016, and began his term on January 1, 2017. Guterres has focused on issues such as climate change, humanitarian crises and promoting peace and security.
