Anthony Faiola currently serves as the Rome Bureau Chief for The Washington Post. His career with The Post began in 1994, and since then, he has reported from over 60 countries across six continents. Faiola has held various positions as bureau chief in Tokyo, Buenos Aires, New York, London, Berlin, and Miami. His reporting portfolio includes covering global economics and the U.S. financial crisis from Washington, D.C. Faiola is an alumnus of Florida International University (FIU), graduating in 1990, and started his career in journalism at the Miami Herald. His work has earned him several accolades, including the National Press Foundation’s Innovative Storytelling Award, a Cine Award, and the Maryland-DC-Virginia Press Association Award. He was also a finalist for the Overseas Press Award and has served as a Knight Innovator in Residence at Florida International University. Besides English, Faiola is fluent in Spanish.
