Feedback
New people feedback:
It felt successful
Liked it a lot
At first glance, people don’t want to know what you’re doing, and then they see the coco, and the doors open up
“More than a cup”
It’s not what most people make you think it is
Flyers
A volunteer mentioned she liked having the flyers and recommends a Spanish Flyer
YWAM Need to have flyers updated with correct days for events
Add BBQ, because it is not currently listed
YWAM aiming to be open as much as they can, so flyers are often out of date
Regulars
There was a guy who recognized me and asked me to pray for them
Some interactions felt like relationships in full bloom
When you start to see the same faces, consistency builds trust
Show up in people’s lives without an agenda
“Through discourse comes trade”- a Wall Street Quote from Mark
The trade? You build a relationship and then they come to the community center
Relationship is a catalyst for transformation
A woman insisted on giving Leila a blanket, after she received the eucalyptus donation
Responding to the felt needs in the neighborhood
Showing up for their neighbors
Community Member
M- a regular from the Ellis room saw Isiah, Nicole and Annmarie today
Would come with her boyfriend for showers and then started to hang out
Isaiah has provided emotional support for her in the past
Offered mediation and support with her and boyfriend
When people stop coming through, it’s not always a bad thing
Could mean that the person is housed
We saw her today and she opened up to us
Naeemah
Doing this work can be sensitive/triggered coming back into this environment
Very hard for folks who are even more traumatized, to seek housing/accomplish their goals
It’s a very hard transition to make
She is still healing from her past, but this is the reason why she does this work
