Explorers synch, week 15 of 2025
Hello everyone!
Let’s start with the good news of the week, we’ve finally found a solution to automate part of the workflow! According to Preston, within 3 weeks we’ll be able to automatically publish sources, claims, and quotes. On Geo, there will be a "Draft" type that will let you access this data and connect it. You’ll need to connect projects, people, and topics, and possibly add authors and article descriptions. I hope this will help all of you save time, and especially reduce the repetitiveness of certain tasks.
The major change this week is the schedule: I now have a 5-hour time difference with GMT instead of 3, and a 7-hour difference with Bucharest/Vilnius instead of 5. I’d like to suggest shifting the deadline by one hour, setting it at 5 PM GMT (9 AM SF), and propose that we stay flexible over the next few weeks. We need to keep in mind that the major flow of news (US News) starts only around 1–2 PM GMT, so if we want to continue offering same-day news, we’ll all need to adapt a bit. If you agree, let’s experiment for the next two weeks and adjust accordingly?
This week, I also worked a lot on building examples of entities (Projects & People). I took the opportunity to do some cleanup, as the search issues and the hackathon have generated a large number of duplicates that we need to disconnect and reconnect each time before deleting. I started building an example with Ethereum, this also takes time, as I first have to check and fix the connections. At Arturas' request, I categorized the stories on Ethereum, and to do that, I was forced to do what I really wanted to avoid: I created topics. For now, the result is a bit raw, I left it like that intentionally to show all the available data, but after the call, I’ll create views to improve the page and its navigation.
I’d like to check in with you on the technical issues from last week, which ones have been definitively resolved? Are there still any urgent issues that need to be fixed? Do you have other problems to report? And do you agree on what features we most urgently need?
