Description

One of the three main branches of Buddhism, emphasizes the path of the Bodhisattva, a being who seeks Buddhahood through compassion and helping others attain enlightenment. Originating in India around the 1st century CE, it spread to East Asia and emphasizes doctrines like the emptiness of phenomena, the universality of Buddha nature, and a vast array of spiritual practices and texts. Its goal is the liberation of all beings from suffering.
