On May 2023, it was announced that the founder and CEO of Luminar, Austin Russell, will acquire majority ownership of Forbes Global Media Holdings in a transaction valuing the company at nearly $800 million. However, the deal did not go through as Russell was unable to secure the necessary funding before the November 1, 2023 deadline.
