Ecuador is currently facing a security crisis, with a homicide rate which has quadrupled in just two years, transforming the country from one of the least violent in the region to one of the most violent on the planet. Ecuador also faces a series of political crises, the last one caused the fall of the president, the dissolution of parliament and has led to to extraordinary elections to complete the ordinary executive and legislative periods until 2025.
