Lieutenant General Muhammad Othman Al-Hussein

Lieutenant General Muhammad Othman Al-Hussein serves as the Chief of Staff of the Sudanese Armed Forces. His appointment to this significant military position was a part of a larger restructuring within the Sudanese military command. This restructuring was initiated by the chair of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, on 28 October 2019. The changes, including the appointment of Lieutenant General Al-Hussein, were interpreted as a strategy to consolidate control over the military following the removal of Islamist generals.
