Crimean crisis

Description

The Russian invasion of Crimea occurred in February and March of 2014. It followed the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity, which resulted in the ousting of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. Amidst the political instability, Russian forces entered the Crimean Peninsula, a region with a significant ethnic Russian population and home to the Russian Black Sea Fleet based in Sevastopol under a leasing agreement with Ukraine.
