Colonel (Retired) Robert E. Hamilton, Ph.D., serves as the Research Director at the Eurasia Program of the Foreign Policy Research Institute and teaches as an Associate Professor of Eurasian Studies at the U.S. Army War College. His 30 years in the U.S. Army were mainly spent as an Eurasian Foreign Area Officer, with assignments in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Germany, Belarus, Qatar, Afghanistan, Georgia, Pakistan, and Kuwait. A prolific writer, Hamilton has published extensively on matters of conflict and security, especially regarding the post-Soviet states and the Balkans. His academic credentials include a B.Sc. from the United States Military Academy, a Master's in Contemporary Russian Studies, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Virginia, alongside graduating from the German Armed Forces Staff College and the U.S. Army War College.
