📝 Notes
The meeting centered around Tree Ring Village. Updates covered recent progress that included submitting a letter of intent and beginning to setup Tree Ring Village LLC entity. Discussions included forming partnerships, engaging nearby residents to the pursued site, and exploring where to place team member bios for trust-building. Logistical topics ranged from financial management based on participant income to eviction protocols, rapid rehousing options, and agreements with neighboring organizations.
Delving further, potential collaborations with service providers were explored for holistic support within the village. Focus was on clear contracts, legal protections for financial contributions, and funding sources like crypto funds and grants for sustainability. Securing food supplies was discussed along with partnerships to ensure resources like meals from CityTeam and Martha's Kitchen. Future plans for R3 looked at expansion opportunities in other counties and manufacturing housing units in disaster-affected regions.
Eric Johnsen presented a modular housing project akin to BOSS Cubez for versatile room configuration. Collaboration possibilities with Keena Kim from a housing financing group in LA were raised to fund large modular projects efficiently. The aim was to finance multiple projects in areas like Oakland or Bakersfield through economies of scale. Discussion included engaging a developer in Stanislaus county for low to middle-income housing funding, aligning with efforts to expand affordable housing through innovative financing.
Plans were made for Keena Kim to visit an Oakland site for potential project collaborations, focusing on addressing affordable housing challenges. The goal emphasized leveraging diverse financial resources, fostering cooperation among stakeholders, and driving momentum in the sector for expanded affordable housing options.
